Vizag Diaries (Day 2)

Each time when we are travelling, the experience becomes a diary for us – so we named it as Our Vizag Diaries (Day 2).

Before reading Day 2, if you wish you can take a look of
Vizag Diaries (Day1) (INS Kursura (S20) Submarine, Naval War Memorial)

So lets start our 2nd day journey. On the second day we have a rush to reach AP Tourism Central Reservation Office at 7:30 am. So we woke up in the morning and dressed up. We took our breakfast from the dining room of the hotel and took an auto to reach AP office.

APTDC Bus

We have some paper work there. So after completing that they told us to take our seats in the bus. We started our journey at 8 am. They provide us with very good bus service and a travel guide who told us the whole day tour plan in details. Bus was neat and clean. Our first destination for that day was

1st Destination Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam:

Being devotional toward god is good. We also like that. So when our guide told that we will start our day by visiting a temple, it feels good to us. So our bus headed towards the temple. After covering a good km of normal road finally took the hilly steps up and rose up in a carving way which made us feel more adventurous.

Statue of Hanuma Ji

In the way we saw a huge statue of Sri Hanuman Ji. After 30 min we reached to the main gate of the temple. After stepping out of our bus, the first thing came in our mind was that the temple is not just a temple but also an example of fine architectural art. When I kept my eyes behind my camera, I noticed the flawless carving art of various gods and goddess in different posture. Inside the temple image of Narasimha (man-lion), incarnation of lord Vishnu is situated. The surrounding was very fresh and we felt more energetic.

We noticed a waving way goes up side near the bus parking area. So without wasting any time we went up and saw a magnificent view of the city. Automatically camera came up in our hand and we started photography.

2nd Destination – Shilparamam:

After reaching there, our guide handed over the tickets for entry. We stepped inside. This is the perfect place for family outing. It covers a huge area of land and a good number of trees all around the park.

We saw different statues of different culture made of clay, iron rod and iron accessories. We saw the statues of Mother Teresa, farmers, girl carrying books on her head, a hatching egg and lots more. Iron models include an anchor, two cats in a sea saw and more.  We roamed around the park, breath fresh air, took group photographs and lastly didn’t miss the chance of going back to our childhood days. We rode the swing to feel the freeness. But sadly the time was over and we had to return back to the bus for next destination.

3rd Destination – Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex:

Thotlakonda-Buddhist Complex

Now we are in Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex. One of the most peaceful heritage places covering a wide range of area. We all feel the eternal beauty of that place. Our guide gave us a complete review of the place.

Tubs used for collecting water

The huge grassy muddy land consists of a big collapse Stupa with stairs where we get up and became overwhelmed to view different structures surrounding the main Stupa and on the other side we saw how beautifully sea gets mixed up in a never ending line.

We also noticed 12 tubs around the complex which are used to store rain water for drinking purpose. Some of them are fully covered with lotus and looked so beautiful. A big tree erected in the middle of the area which somehow made me think the tree is the symbol of shield of the whole area. Don’t know still it is there or not. Overall we spent a decent time in the peaceful place of the state, situated on a hill near Bheemunipatnam about 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

But need some more attention for making the place more clean and clear.

4th Destination – Rushikonda Beach:

Rushikonda beach view from hotel balcony

Our bus started and within no time we reached Rushikonda beach. We had listened a lot about Rushikonda Beach and our feet finally touched the golden sand of the beach. We felt so excited and within the blinking of eyes, we folded our pants up to knee length and started running towards the sea to feel the rhythm of the wave. That was such a pleasant experience to walk along the shore of the sea and feel the water. Roaming in beach without having sweet coconut is an incomplete journey. So we all had coconut water. On that day we didn’t went to any beach shop as we had a plan to stay there for last 2 days of our journey.

APTDC made all arrangement of buffet lunch in Rushikonda beach resort.

I will give detail description of the hotel later. They provide us with the most inedible food. The food had no taste at all. I love south Indian foods but that was just beyond every taste. We had no other option so somehow we ate some rice and curd and completed our lunch.

Food: 0/10

Now the time came to pack up from the Rushikonda and we headed towards…

5th Destination—Kailasagiri and Vuda Park:

Kailasagiri is a hilltop park, developed by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority. The hill is at 360 feet and it overlooks beaches, forests & the city of Vishakhapatnam.

The Kailasagiri is well known for the panoramic view and its soothing atmosphere which prevails all around.

I am a big devotee of Lord Shiva. So it was a very special place for me in the whole city. As it is situated on the hill top so we had to cross a good number of steps to reach in the front of the huge magnificent white marble statue of lord Shiva and Devi Parbati. It was such a beauty for me to see the image.

Then we stepped towards the Titanic view Point and enjoy the beauty of sea from the end point of the view point.

After experiencing the view of Vuda Beach from Titanic View Point we entered Vuda Park

Vuda Park Gate

Vuda Park is an urban park consisting of a large area and have a wide varity of flora and fauna.

There was both toy train and rope way. Riding a Toy Train is a fantastic experience as it gives a 360 degree view of the park as well as the Vizag city.

But due to time constrict, we choose rope way, so we bought our ticket and started waiting in the back of long queue. Within 10 min our time had came and we get into the rope way. In the middle of the way we mesmerized the beauty of the whole city. The sea gets mixed with the land, the road went on in a curvy manner and all the buildings create a dynamic scene all over the Vizag city.

Ropeway journey is a very good experience. Everybody should try this. After finishing our 4th Destination we had just one destination left for that day.

Travel rating: 10/10

6th Destination: Fishing Harbor:

When our bus crossed the front side of the fish market the first thing you think “where are you!!” “Still in Vizag”. Yes you are. We also had the same feelings.

Fisher boat at harbor

Our bus finally stopped at the back side of the fishing harbor. All the fisher man spread out the fishes in the sun beam to make them dry. The odor coming from the fish was intolerable. We feel like chuck up as we were still full in our tummy. Somehow we managed by holding our handkerchief tight on our nose. We reached the harbor ghat from where we took a launch ride in the water of Bay of Bengal.

Vizag fish harbor

That was something really awesome and worth sharing. The total time of launch riding was about 20 minutes. The small waves made the collision with the launch and it made the launch swing up and down. Not only the situation made us adventurous but also we somehow were feeling scared. Different sizes of fishing ships were standing side by side in a series and the harbor was fully crowded and chaotic. Of course no harbor is silent. One thing that made us happy was the flying Indian Flag at the top of the ships.

Note: The travelers who cannot at all tolerate the smell of fish are not recommended to visit. If you still want to visit you should take care of yourself.

With this we completed our whole day journey and APTDC bus dropped us at R.K. Beach. Then we returned back to our hotel at around 8 Pm.

Stay with us for Day 3.  🙂
