Exploring Magnificent Royal Fort Of Jaipur – Amer Fort

It was our first day in Jaipur and our first destination was Amer Fort. Our tempo traveler left us at the autorickshaw stand from where we took a jeep to the main premises. The hilly roads with little ups and downs was a fun ride to the Amer Fort. You can pay them some extra fare for the up-down trip.  We hired a travel guide who helped us throughout our journey. The Surajpol Gate is the main entrance gate.

The colossal entrance gate welcomed us to the royal fort. The Surajpol Gate is the main entrance gate. The gate faces east as the sunrise from the east and hence its known as the Suraj(Sun)pol Gate. Royal parades and dignitaries entered the palace through these gates.

DHAULI – The White Peace Pagoda

Dhauli, popularly known as The white Peace Pagoda or the Shanti Stupa, standing with the face up to the sky on the top of the Dhaulagiri Hill. The hills are located on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar. DHAULI – The White Peace Pagoda has been built by the Japan Buddha Sangha and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sanghain the 1970s.

The Pagoda, guarded by eight golden lion statues, two on each side, erected on the thumbs.

The big Buddha Statues posed in Lotus Position with his hand in Dharmachakra Mudra, Bhumisparsha Mudra and Abhaya Mudra, placed inside the Dhauli were the eye catchers.

Khandagiri:

As we entered through the main gate… We were surprised to see the monkeys sitting in each and every row of the steps. Some were fighting with each other, some were holding their babies in their lap as well as some were playing.

There were 2 to 3 vendors who were selling nuts for the monkeys. Every tourist bought that in a paper cone. We also bought 3 of them and as we crossed few steps upwards, the monkeys came in front of us and raised their hands towards us. We handed over the paper cone full of nuts and they happily went away. They didn’t harm any tourist.
