Mount Abu-The Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
Jodhpur to Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan, covering Chittorgarh Fort is a day-long journey and quite hectic. So after having our dinner at a dhaba, we all fell fast asleep. It was already 10 pm by that time. Our eyes opened with a jerk. We peeped outside. It was altogether a different story. Our tempo traveler was running through the hills. The sheer drops and convoluted twists and turns were quite adventurous. The constant whirls to the highest part were literally giving us goosebumps. Our car was moving fast by the steep edges and we could only feel the jerk and swirl.
The temperature became quite low as we were reaching the highest point. It was all total one and half hour journey. There was a toll plaza at the entrance of Mt. Abu. Toll fare was Rs 10/- and we finally reached our hotel. It was already 12:30. We were extremely tired and we fell asleep. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
2nd Day City Tour in Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan :
After getting ready we were set for our city tour. From our balcony, the astounding beauty of the city left us wonderstruck.
The scenic beauty of the hills with the extensive valleys is famous as “Oasis in the Desert”.
Well, let’s tell you a little about Mt. Abu. This is the only hill station of Rajasthan. The wide range of Aravallis is surrounded by evergreen forest, rivers and lakes and stands in the border of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The rocky plateau provides a very soothing temperature.
Let’s come to the popular travel spots at Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan.
Bramha Kumari World Spiritual University:
Our car first halted at Bramha Kumari World Spiritual University. This university is the home of hundreds of Bramha Kumaris. Now you will think about who they are and what’s so special about this university. Well, this university is quite different from other institutes. Here the students get the knowledge of love peace and spiritualism rather than any bookish knowledge. As we stepped into the ambiance totally changed around us.
The serenity and the spiritual energy here rejuvenated our soul. We came to the Universal Peace Hall, where one of the followers discussed with us their religious movement. The hall was huge with 3000 seats and has facilities for contemporaneous translation in 16 languages.
Well according to the lady, “Bramhakumaris”, a religious organization and this organization, founded by Lekhraj Kripalani.
They mainly focus on Education, Philanthropism, Religious Studies & Spiritualism. The organization aspires to build a global culture on “soul-consciousness”. God is the manufacturer of all good souls and it’s our duty to identify these free souls through meditations.
After this interesting philosophical session, we moved to Baba’s Hut where the founder used to meditate. Next, we moved to Tower Of Peace where the founder’s mortal remains were resting in peace.
There were many book stalls outside selling books, pamphlets on the life of Bramha Kumaris and their religious movement on “Soul Consciousness”. Our bus was waiting outside. We clicked some pictures outside the university, as photography was prohibited inside and were ready for our next destination.
It was already quite late so we had our lunch and moved towards Nakki Lake.
Boating in Nakki Lake:
Nakki Lake as the name suggests was created by God using his nails, hence the name is “Nakki”. The lake is considered to be sacred by Garacia Tribe of Rajasthan and they worship the lake in the month of April during Shukla Paksha.
Nakki Lake, the only water body to be built 12000 meters above sea level. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
After reaching there we have to walk for around 15 minutes to reach the lake. The serenity of the lake with verdant surroundings made us spellbound. We were ready for boating. Well, the timings are from 9:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. We wore our life jackets and jumped into the Shikara. The wide range of Aravallis, exquisite nature and some strangely shaped rocks surround the lake. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
We could feel the soothing breeze while boating. The pristine green waters were the home to many fishes and ducks. We came across a camel-shaped rock, toad rock and the majestic palace of Maharaja while boating.
Another unknown fact was the ashes of Gandhi Ji was immersed in this lake.Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
Nakki Lake is the perfect destination for nature lovers. This 30 minutes of boating will become memorable for you and the best thing on the entire trip.
After our boating, we visited Nakki Lake Gardens just beside the boating area. We walked through the lush greens. The garden is the home to thousands of trees and you feel fresh walking here.
You can also click pictures here is Rajasthani outfit with the garden as a background. The delightful smells through the autumn air, the bird chirps and the tinkling of the wind made the garden lively with colors of nature. Going back towards our bus we had ice cream. You will be finding many ice cream stalls on the way back and can choose any ice cream of your choice.
Our next and last destination for the day was the sunset point. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
Sunset View Point:
Our bus halted from where it was a 20-minute walk to the point. Since the road was quite narrow buses or cars cannot pass through it. So you have to either walk or avail a pram. Yes, you won’t find such vehicle anywhere so we decided to avail it. The vehicle was pushed by a man to our destination stop. It was fun to travel by it through the narrow hilly rocky paths but felt sad for the man as it was quite hectic for him to push this vehicle.
Before reaching the destination, you will be finding an endless number of street-side shops. You can buy souvenirs, hats, goggles, wooden toys, sandalwood idols etc. The staircase to reach the highest point was quite risky. It will be quite difficult for elderly persons. As we reached the top it was already 5 pm.
But the picturesque view of the green valley, wide range of Aravalli and Nakki Lake was a retreat to our eyes.
The pleasant climate was an added advantage to enjoy the serenity. The spot turned into a carnival within a few minutes with thousands of travelers. We waited patiently for the sun to set down. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
Additionally, the cool breeze gave us relaxation after the whole day trip. As we noticed, the sun slowly turned into an orange ball. Within a few minutes, the size of the ball reduced and eventually the ball dissolved leaving behind an orangish stroke in the sky. The sky looked like a painting with a mixture of orange and blue. The wonderful sight was mesmerizing to all the travelers present there. Within another few minutes, it started becoming dark. So it was time to go back. We walked this time to our bus halt, had a cup of tea and returned back to our hotel. Mount Abu-Picturesque Hill Station of Rajasthan
