A Weekend Road Trip To Kolaghat
Long rides are always fun and that too when you are accompanied by a travel enthusiast. After a hectic schedule through the week we planned for a weekend road trip to Kolaghat by bike. Kolaghat is just 70 KM away from Kolkata. Till ten years back, the name Kolaghat spring up with the image of delicious Hilsa Fish, the Queen of Fishes.
We started around 9 in the morning and decided to have our breakfast on the way. Crossing the Hooghly River Bridge we passed through the Toll Center. That was the gateway to Howrah. We crossed the Kona Highway to reach NH16. You will be finding many petrol pumps and ATMs in Kona Highway. So try to reload your tank and purse in case of emergency. A Weekend Road Trip To Kolaghat
Lets come back to our journey. NH16 is much congested in the beginning with markets, industries and residencies. But as we proceeded further we really started enjoying our ride.
The roads were clean with amazing scenic view- high bridges, less congestion and greenery covering both sides gave us a wonderful experience.
Away from the city life we experienced deep refreshment. Our bike was running at a medium speed and the wind was gently hitting us making the journey more memorable. If you are travelling during summers the scorching heat will definitely give you a headache. So its better to travel by car in this time. But bike ride during October-March is much comfortable. After a 2 hour long journey we could finally see the glistering water of Rupnarayan River on both side. The breath taking view was too much refreshing after this journey. The rhythmic flow of water changed the ambiance. We stopped there for a while to feel the surrounding. But we were already too hungry so we headed towards.
Relish Breakfast at Express Food Plaza:
We ordered yummy soups and sandwiches for our breakfast at Express Food Plaza. We got the chance to click some amazing photographs there.
This restaurant has some impressive decorations. A large railway engine greeted us at the gate followed by some filmy decorations. Boards and hoardings of Bollywood movies added some cinematic fun to our clicks. Besides, there were few wooden seats. A small back garden was also there decorated with some splendid flowers. The surrounding of this restaurant was quite exciting and you would love to spend some time here.
Good Food is Good Mood:
After clicking and wandering there we decided to hop to Sher-E-Punjab just beside Express Food Plaza for our lunch. We ate a lot starting from Chicken Kababs in the starter followed by Nan, Dal Fry, Chicken Bharta, Ice cream in our lunch. We preferred Roti or Nan over rice during ride to avoid drowsiness. Riding to Kolaghat would be incomplete without having tea in this dhaba. We had tea, sitting outside on the charpoy beds. This charpoy beds just gave us that Punjab essence. It was already 3 pm when we completed our lunch. Still we decided to walk around. There was a bar just beside this hotel and this hotel also offers accommodations to travelers. There was a swing too to revisit your childhood days once again.
Since it was late afternoon, we decided to ride back before the sun sets. Riding back was a little difficult after such a fun trip. With the sunset we reached the congestion again leaving behind the unclogged highway. It was the end of our trip with some exhilarating memories. A Weekend Road Trip To Kolaghat
